Pug Cafe + The Pen and Pencil have teamed up to invite the pugs and pug crosses of Manchester and the North West (and their humans) to celebrate Chinese New Year – Year of the Dog 🐾
This is the most talked about Pug Paw-ty in town and what better what to celebrate Chinese New Year than with one of China’s oldest dog breeds – the PUG!
The pug was the prized pet of the Emperors of China, and lived in luxurious accommodation, and even given the same status as their wives – they were spoilt and treated like royalty! We would love to celebrate this by inviting all the pugs in the North West to our fabulous Year of the Dog event this year.
If you’re a proud PUG or PUG CROSS owner (pugs, jugs, pugzus, pugaliers and more all welcome) make sure you bring your curly-tailed pals to the famous Pug Cafe so they can celebrate Year of the Dog, meet lots of new friends and tuck into some delicious doggy treats. PUG LOVERS also welcome!
We’ll be celebrating Year of the Dog with a very special Pug Cafe – look forward to a beautiful Chinese-themed New Year venue, Chinese-inspired doggy treats and plenty of chances for your pug to party with their new friends at our PUG PARTY!
There will be a whole menu dedicated to pugs for pugs so make sure they’re on a treat day because there will be delicious pupcakes, dognuts, fortune cookies and lots more.
Every Pug Cafe will be serving their PUGUCCINOS for free but with an oriental twist!
As for the humans, while your pug is having a great time meeting new friends, you’ll get to celebrate in style at The Pen and Pencil – where there will be a delicious food on offer with a few Chinese-inspired treats and plenty of cocktails – come and enjoy a taste of the orient!
The Pen and Pencil is a stylish and welcoming cafe-bar in Manchester’s iconic Northern Quarter, and for this day only between 10am-6.30pm it will be transformed into the famous Pug Cafe.
If you don’t have your own pug then don’t fret, Pug Cafe invites pug lovers to the the biggest New Years pug paw-ty in town. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved with some pug-loving and meet a whole grumble of pugs and lavish them with lots of love!

Pug Cafe events are strict booking only and you will need to be on the ball to secure your spot. Booking opens on Saturday 10th February 2018 at 11am when two secret email addresses will be released – you will then need to send us your request immediately.

Pug Cafe is a strict booking-only event and you will need a confirmed booking to attend. We do not allow walk-ins.
Booking opens on Saturday 10th February at 11am where two email addresses will be released here – you will need to send over the following information so we can process you booking:
1. Your Full Name
2. How many pugs you are bringing if any(max 4) + NAMES + PHOTOS
3. Contact Number
4. Human group size – please keep to an absolute minimum – ideally 2 but we may be able to cater for a few groups up to 4 if you are a family with children.
5. Your 1st and 2nd preferred time slots. If you are completely flexible please state so but only if you are 100% flexible. E.g. you would accept the first or last time slot.
The Pen and Pencil runs as a normal cafe-bar and it is only on the Sunday 4th March that they will transform into the Pug Cafe.
The event is organised into 70 minute time slot that start at
10am, 11.10am, 12.20pm, 1.30pm, 2.50pm, 4pm and 5.15pm
There is a booking fee per person – Pug Owners £7 each (if you bring 1 pug you are allowed 2 people at pug owner rate each) Additional Pug Owner Guests £10, Pug Lovers £14. Under 2’s do not pay a booking fee.
We ask you to keep your party size to a maximum of 2 people but we can cater for families and groups of up to four and six.
Please note, we support various charities through our events and a proportion of this booking fee is donated to our chosen charity.
