Our Pug Cafe Day of the Dead event in London is a strictly booking only event. If you have a confirmed booking and are attending this Sunday 21st October, please have a read of the following information prior to your visit.
What to Expect
This is our biggest event yet so it will be busy and fun – we LOVE a doggy party! As it’s Day of the Dead themed you can expect lots of colour, flowers and skulls.
Inside our beautiful venue – The Happenstance – you’ll find a menu dedicated to dogs that will include both limited edition Halloween and Day of the Dead themed biscuits and treats.
There will also be a human menu with a range of delicious food and drinks including special Halloween platter and cocktails (including a bottomless option!).
There will be plenty of photo opportunities, and prizes for best costumes for dogs! As always, this event will be off-lead so let your dog off, relax and enjoy the event.
Dog Etiquette & Care
While we make every effort to ensure the venue is safe for your dog, including manning all doors, please do keep a watch over your dog at the event as we cannot take responsibility of their care.
You must ensure your dog has peed and pooped prior to your time slot. If they have an accident and toilet inside the venue, we will have cleaning supplies and dog poo bags on hand for you to clean up.
We understand it may take a while for your dog to settle into this new environment, but if you feel your dog is really not enjoying the cafe experience then you are able to leave at any time – please just ask a member of staff to help you leave safely.
Weather & Temperature
It is expected to be sunny and breezy this Sunday with highs of 17 degrees so please do take care when travelling to and from this event with your dog.
The venue has suitable temperature control (full air conditioning) and additional floor fans, but please do bring any cooling aids that will help keep your dog cool if needed. We will have plenty of fresh water for the dogs, and will keep cooling mats and blankets on hand should your dog be overheating and in need of cooling down.
Dog lovers really make our events super special and we really want you to enjoy this experience as much as possible! From past events we have found dog lovers really have a great time when they get as close to the action as possible so please don’t be afraid to sit on the floor and get involved – get down to their level and enjoy making some new furry friends!
Every dog attending is there with their owner so don’t be afraid to chat to people, and if you’d like a stroke or a cuddle with their dog then just ask – most people love if you give their dog attention!
As a dog lover we invite you to come and enjoy this experience with them, and we encourage you to really make the most of your time here – and have fun! Due to the unique nature of the event, if there are no-shows from owners there won’t be as many as we had planned so please understand this is beyond our control.
Arrival at Our Event
Please enter from the side entrance at the Happenstance, you will be directed upon arrival as to where to queue. We ask you do not arrive too early for your time slot as the time slot prior to yours will still be in action – we suggest 10 minutes arrival before your slot starts will suffice.
The Happenstance is located in Paternoster Square which is a great place for photos so if you arrive early please feel free to wait in the Square where we’re sure you’ll find plenty of friends.
Confirmation Email & Entering
The Pug Cafe team will sign you in prior to the slot starting, please stand in line and show us your booking confirmation either on your phone or printed off and have it ready to present.
A Pug Cafe team member will check your confirmation email, place a colour coded sticker on you and tick you off the list. This will indicate you have been signed in and will make the process of entering the venue a lot quicker!
Your time slot will be 70 minutes long, and while you are allowed to leave early at any time, if you arrive late, unfortunately, you won’t be able to stay longer than your allocated time.
If you arrive late or need to leave early, please ask a Pug Cafe team member to help you enter and leave safely. As there are dogs off lead inside, you must not open the doors alone.
Inside the Venue
Due to the overwhelming demand for this event, we will be taking over the full venue at The Happenstance – the main area and the adjoining Lounge area. The event will be busy and fun, but if you prefer something slightly quieter we suggest you take a seat in the Lounge area.
The Happenstance is a large, spacious, modern venue with a mix of high tables, sofas and standard tables so select a seat that suits you and get comfy! With a delicious menu on offer for humans including coffees, teas, cakes, savoury dishes, desserts, bottomless cocktails and a Halloween platter – there will be plenty of choice!
This event will see many people attending per time slot so there may be small queues to order at the bar, but don’t worry we have extra staff who will be working extra hard to make sure you are served as quickly as possible.
Safety at Pug Cafe
Pug Cafe is an off-lead event which means there will be dogs off lead inside. This is what makes our event truly special and enjoyable for the dogs – they get to enjoy socialising with other dogs in a safe area!
We do everything possible to secure the venue and keeping the main door closed is very important. Please do not open the door once inside, there will be a member of staff on hand by both exit doors to help you leave safely should you need to.
There will be doggy barriers infront of the main doors to ensure it is extra safe – please do not attempt to remove this barrier by yourself if wish to leave the venue early.\
Food & Drink
Pupuccinos and pupcorn are free, but all other drinks and food (for both dogs and humans) are chargeable as normal.
The Happenstance will run their normal menu for humans – as well as a special Halloween-themed options and a Bottomless Cocktail ‘London Spritz’ for £20 (unlimited for the hour)
Please refrain from bringing your own drinks and food, like you would any normal coffee shop or cafe, unless it is for babies or young children.
The pupuccino consists of a paper espresso cup with a small amount of light whipped cream. This is only meant as a one-off treat and you are not obliged to take it if you do not want to. If your dog does not react well to dairy there will be plenty of water instead.
There will be a Limited Edition menu especially for dogs – brought to you by Rudi’s The Doggy Bakery. All items on this menu include dog-friendly ingredients, and an ingredients list will be available for you to look at. Please note all items are chargeable and range in price from £0.50p – £2.50.
We can only accept cash for dog purchases so make sure you bring cash with you if you would like to buy any dog treats.
As The Happenstance will be serving their human menu too please be careful when eating foods such as chocolate around the dogs – we cannot take responsibility if they accidentally ingests food that they cannot eat.
Smile! We will be taking plenty of photos and videos on the day and hope you will too. We may not be able to capture every dog or guest so if you would like your photo taken please ask Anushka who will happily snap you.

Baynard House Multi-Storey 133 Queen Victoria City of London London EC4V 4BQ £3 for all day parking on Sunday with 233 spaces and an 8 minute walk to the venue.

The nearest station is St Paul’s Tube Station which is a 2 minute walk.
Pug Cafe team members are trained in dog first aid so if you have any concerns please see James at the venue. If for any reason your pug requires urgent veterinary help, we will help you call the Clerkenwell Animal Hospital – 0207 017 8950 – to arrange an emergency appointment at the nearest vet
During the pug time slots there will be a film crew capturing the event for an upcoming TV show. Please note, filming notices will be found outside the event, and if you have any objections to being filmed please let one of the crew or Pug Cafe team know.
